Leah Cotton Sets New OCS single season and career scoring record at OCS.

It was announced in last night's game that Leah Cotton is now the new varsity girls single season and career scoring leader for Olathe Christian School - a mark held by Jenny Marvine for many years. Leah scored twenty-four points in last night's game v. East KS City Lions and is close to reaching the 1,000 point total for her very young career. Congratulations, Leah. Leah is a ninth grader.

Lady Warriors Win State Crown

For the first time in its history, Olathe Christian School captured a state tournament championship. The Lady Warriors Win State! Led by scoring guard, forward and post Leah Cotton, the Lady Warriors proved too much for the much taller team from Wichita. For the first time in the history of Olathe Christian School's history, our girls can say, "WE ARE THE STATE CHAMPIONS! The effort of the girls was amazing. Amy Green's inside and outside presence proved too much for the opposing teams to handle. Young Hannah Miller was able to give many quality minutes in the game. The rebounding effort of the West girls caused the Wichita coach to just shake his head. Elise Cotton's inside presence provided a great lift to the team. Senior Rebecca Spear ends her basketball career with a state championship and an all-tournament medal. Leah Cotton and Amy Green were also named to the all-tournament team.

The defensive effort of the girls holding much taller teams to low-scoring contests was a major difference maker as well.

Perhaps a greater win was the win over Cair Paravel in the semi-final game. Cair Paravel is a complete team with three girls 5'11" or more, a great shooting guard and good point guard. Yet the Lady Warriors were able to prevail in this game by four, 44-40. This is an amazing over-achieving team. Congratulations to Coach McCree for an amazing season.
