Keep checking this website for updates. We should know today the first team they play. Play begins tomorrow, Wednesday, March 14.

Lady Warriors Win Another Tournament

The Lady Warriors ran through the MAACS tourney this past weekend. No team came close to prevailing over them. They defeated Berean, a Colorado team (Faith), and TriCity to claim the Championship. They now are making preparations to see how they will fare in a national tournament at a much higher level. They travel to Dayton, Tennessee next week to enter the NACA Division III Tournament. Check this website for results from this tournament. The girls are recording the best year in the history of Olathe Christian Girls basketball. Congratulations to Coach Newsome and his fine players.

Lady Warriors Win Crown!

Lady Warriors win the State KCAA championship once again. After trailing the Lions from Topeka for most of the second half, Amy Green put up a big "3" with twelve seconds left on the clock and the Lady Warriors win by one. They didn't play one of their best games of the season, but played well enough to successfully defend their crown. Congratulations to Coach Newsome and his team for a great job. They now go on to the National Championship tournament in  Dayton, Tennessee. Amy Green, Elise Cotton and Leah Cotton all three made the all-tournament team.

The men came up a little short in their bid for a state championship and lost by four. The Warriors trailed by fourteen early in the second half but fought back valiantly to pull within three in the last minute. Ben Wishall and Anthony Sublette provided the spark to help the Warriors get back into the game. Congratulations to Coach Smith for taking his team to the championship game. Ben Wishall and Josiah Bradley were chosen to represent Olathe on the all-tourney team.

Coach Gary Newsome

Olathe Christian School is proud to announce our new ladies varsity basketball head coach, Coach Gary Newsome.   Gary will be responsible for the spiritual, physical, and mental development of our whole Ladies Warriors basketball program.

Coach Newsome also runs “Warrior Hoops.”  This is his organization that develops boys and girls year around playing basketball.  They participate in tournaments all through the off-season.  His young organization has already won large tournaments in the KC area.

Coach Smith says, “It was God that brought him here. I am so excited for our players and for our whole school to have a man that not only loves the game of basketball, but has a true passion to develop young people in their walk with Christ.  We could not be happier with our new coach!”

The Lady Warriors have already gotten off to a great start by winning the Northland Baptist Bible College Tournament in Dunbar, Wisconsin this November defeating a fine team from Ridgewood, Illinois in the championship game.  Season summaries will be posted regularly.

Amy Green and Leah Cotton were both nominated for the 5 player All-Tournament Team.

“The Lord is blessing our programs with tremendous people in leadership positions.  The Lord is preparing us for a huge growth spurt that we can all sense is coming,” says Coach Smith.

You need to get out and see this girl’s team play.  They are very exciting!
